We work in Budaka District
About Us
Education has been used world over as the key to remove poverty and community transformation and development.
Statistics show poor and deteriorating education standards and performance in the Budaka district, Kamonkoli inclusive.
We are working to address this issue by establishing a K-12 educational institution in the Kamonkoli / Mbale area of Uganda. The institution is designed to redefine quality education through innovation, inclusivity, and global relevance. The school will deliver a world class, inquiry based learning experience aligned with Uganda’s national education standards while incorporating international best practices.
The overall goal is not to just build and operate the school, but to transform the education process whereby the school creates and implements educational best practices. These best practices can be leveraged by other schools in Uganda to rollout similar transformations in their communities.
Transforming Uganda Through Education
In Uganda, most of the schools are located in urban areas, leaving very few schools to cater for the majority of the population which is found in rural areas. In addition, the few rural schools rarely prepare learners for intellectual tasks as required by the job market. Many children also come from families where parents or guardians have themselves not been to school or the home environment has no exposure to reading materials or incentives to learn.
There are also many early marriages as a result of children not being able to be in school for lack of tuition or long distances that they have to travel to school.
Many children are also engaged in child labor as their parents and guardians struggle to supply for the home, they opt for their children to support them in income generation than go to school. Most of this is due to the main way income is generated in these areas; sharecropping.
As poverty levels increase and school dues increase too, parents and guardians are left with no choice but to stay with unschooled children, because they are unable to meet the costs.
